Dear Friends and Travellers,
You made it through January Hurrah! Snow is probably not melting yet where you are but we can give you some tips how to shake it off – February in Malta spells good times ahead!
In our attempt to keep you busy this month, we have outlined some must do’s for the Carnival season. This will kick off on the 3rd week of February with an astonishing line up of cardboard and wooden contraptions strolling the streets of Valletta making a mockery of our habits, political class and way of life; a tradition as old as the city itself.
Valletta, the city founded by the Knights of St John, is currently preparing to reconcile with its European foundations and wearing it’s festive costume, displaying its beauty and majesty for the European Capital of Culture title in 2018 while currently hosting the rotating Presidency of the European Union and Brexit related talks – Hot Potatoes – for all those handling them –
We’ll leave it to do them while we indulge in those fantastic things the country has to offer while we are on the inside! Carnival period will cool everyone down while the warm days ahead will help to raise our spirits and those lucky to be here.
Pssst: Valentines is a sheet’s width away, Couple it with a quick getaway to where the sun still shines and people warm your heart….
Savour the city – no better way to spend a quiet afternoon in February in Malta than chilling out with some in one of the budding wine bars peppering the streets of Valletta.

We Love Piadina Cafe, the quaint bar just two streets down Merchant street, run by Giada. The hole in the wall is small but full of color, character and a welcoming smile! It definitely tops our list of things to do in February in Malta. The tasty delicacies and snacks served here will make a simple afternoon, a delightful experience. Make sure to end the experience with a glass of Averna or Fra Angelico.
#2 – Things to do this February in Malta –
Another lovely place to stop for Lunch (it’s only available for Lunch) is the famous Da Pippo, run by Francesco, this place is widely known to prepare the best pasta in Valletta. There is no specific menu so ask for the daily speciality and enjoy the charm, the gossiping, the gourmet feel of the place with a distinctive Italian Taverna feeling. We love the tomatp and Maltese sausage starter followed by ravioli with shrimp filling or lobster – mouth watering! This place also hosted Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt before they parted ways.
