For the last century or so, few things have endured the test of time as the bike. Constantly reinventing itself in form, design and function, it’s probably one of those few things that have managed to remain relevant to our speed and fast changing lifestyles. In our mind, the best way to experience the Maltese Islands is to book a mountain bike tour while on holiday in Malta. If you are staying at one of our holiday apartments, you also get a guest’s discount, check your booking followup email which contains a discount code to use in booking page…
Whether you’re staying in a holiday apartment by the Beach in Mellieha, a village top apartment, a holiday villa, farmhouse in Gozo, Stunning Sliema Penthouse with 3 terraces or a boutique apartment in Sliema, it’s easy to walk your bike back in with you offering the possibility of numerous rides across the island, if you’re bringing your own that is.
Alternatively, you may hitch a ride on one of our bikes and saddle up for a day of great fun, stunning scenery and peaceful country trails. To get the best out of your day on two wheels, we suggest you prebook your trail ride and specify your level of experience so that we can plan the ideal day out for you. A cab can also be reserved for you to pick you from your Malta address to the starting point.
Malta may not initially strike you as the best place to stretch your legs on a bike however mountain biking in Malta has quickly caught up as a leisure activity and a quick look at the showcase of some of the local cycling shops shows serious interest in bikes and gear alike. The bumpy roads and countryside trails make mountain bikes the only realistic and fun choice! We have opted for a mix of Mondraker and Orbea bikes for our trips.
We recently caught up with our cycling guide Robert, a charming young man with a beating heart for mountain bike related activity who is equally at home on a downhill trail over Mount Etna as well as an easy-going trip around the Maltese coastline. Robert has showed us some of the best moments on two wheels and got us hooked permanently on bikes!
He happens to be one of the best guides on the island due to his fervent passion and commitment to the sport as well as customer satisfaction knowing the best bike trails like the palm of his hand. Whether you are staying in Sliema, Mellieha or Valletta, Robert can get you there and back safely and smiling. Tell us where you would like to cycle or the sort of ride you are after and we shall plan the best trail for your enjoyment. You may also prebook a cab in the booking process so that everything is taken care of at time of booking.
We hooked up on a nice March weekend day for a trip spanning across the central part of the island. We only asked Robert for one thing – Make it fun for the lads and the ladies so that we will be back and preferably, spare us the up hills. With a mix of flat ground, downhills, uphills and anything in between, the ride promised to be a fantastic challenge for everyone providing us with unique scenery and the opportunity to experience the wilder side of the island.
We started out in Dingli just off the cliffs and headed towards, Bidnija, Mtahleb, Imgarr and Burmarrad.
