Mellieha enjoys a fantastic reputation and was awarded with European Desitination of Excellence by the European Union. The lively mix of locals, expatiates and tourists makes Mellieha the place to be if you enjoy outdoors, stunning views and naturally sandy beaches! Sight seeing is an activity in itself this side of the island.
Mellieha bay is about a kilometer wide nestled between two stretches of protruding land much of which makes up the northern rocky landscape of Malta leading to the cliffs at l-Ahrax tal-Mellieha. It is the northern most town before reaching the Gozo Ferry which will ferry you across the archipelago to the sister island, Gozo.
Opposite the beach, a nature reserve can be found where many migrating birds can be seen as they cross from Europe to north Africa. Castles and ruins embellish the country side from centuries gone by such as it-Torri l-Ahmar known also as St. Agatha’s Tower. More info at – http://dinlarthelwa.org/
Cycling in Malta
Cycling especially off road is popular in the Maltese islands. Although it never made it into a dedicated means of transport, it enjoys a strong following by enthusiasts that brave the rocky terrain for some adrenaline fuelled moments. You will get to enjoy stunning views of Comino, Mellieha and Gozo and much more.
You can always stop at the beach after for an ice-cream at one of the many Gelaterias dotting the beach. Talk to us and we shall introduce you to Robert, our trusted guide and cycling fanatic that keeps everyone happy with his humour.
